‘Excessive Ambition’ is a struggle we all share. I wanted to share my views so that others may help themselves sooner rather than later.
By definition, ‘Ambition’ is an earnest desire for achievements like power, honour, fame, or wealth and a willingness to strive to achieve them.
So, this begs the question, ‘How ambitious should you be in Web3?’
Before sharing my own experience, let’s understand ‘Excessive Ambitions.’
It brings a lot of excitement, achievements, and a HUGE learning curve... BUT there is a massive trade-off to your health.
Maintaining a healthy level of ambition is not an easy task. Here are a few words to live by for those who need to hear them:
“Where there is EXCESS, there are NEGLECTS and REGRETS.”
To build with ambition, you need commitment to action. You need to take energy & time away from ‘other’ things to fulfill them.
Be mindful and attentive, so you can start creating a healthy balance.

My Burnout
Since the beginning of my Web3 journey leading up to now, I averaged 17 hours per day on Twitter & Twitter Spaces. I managed to share and learn from many amazing individuals and communities in a short period of time.
Little did I notice I started neglecting my rest, sleep, and eating well or eating at all. Continuing for months, I began having a shorter attention span, forgetting my commitments, and losing track of my progress.
Then… it happened.
On 4th Aug. 2022, I burnt out. Self-doubt, lack of confidence, unable to participate in conversations, and anxiety… kicked in.
I lacked the energy to get out of bed, get onto Twitter, or even carry out my day. I had forgotten how to be myself.
Recovery
Though I lost momentum, I needed to find myself again. Thankfully, my community made me feel comfortable with stepping away.
It was a tough decision, BUT it was the right one!
As I gave myself the needed time to recharge, revitalise and rejuvenate. I began practicing mindful habits and ensuring that I accomplish them every day:
Meditation, activities to be present like cooking, eating, conversations with loved ones, etc.
Now, I'm pursuing true advocacy toward mental health to help myself and others.
I encourage you to learn to manage ambition levels for better mental health and building healthy success in all your endeavours.
